History

In 1988 Fantasy Football existed, but was nowhere near as big as it is today.  I was invited to play in one of Mike Topovski's two eight team leagues. Almost all the owners were single, and we always had a great turnout for Monday Night Football at Cask & Cleaver.  The league was a lot of fun, but when it was over Mike ran off with everyone's money.

I liked Fantasy Football, but thought it would be more fun if the winners actually got paid, so the following year I founded the 12-team Kern Valley Football League.

With the success and popularity of the KVFL, it seemed like everyone had a friend that wanted in, so in 1991 the 12-team KVFL Lite was formed.  This league used the same rules, but had a smaller buy in and payoffs.  Still more people wanted to play, most of them working at the gas plant at Elk Hills, so a third 12-team league was formed, the KVFL Gashouse Gang.  After a few years, the name of the leagues were all changed to Get a Life Football League.

After the 1996 season, the GLFL and GLFL Lite merged into a 16-team league.  When I announced that I was moving to Big Bear in 1997, the Gashouse Gang decided to run their own league, which folded after one season.

In 1999, once I was in Big Bear, and knew enough people, the GLFL - Big Bear was formed.  We had 16 guys, but two of them flaked out at the last minute, so the first season went with 14 teams. The next season two more dropped out and we were down to 12 teams.  Finally in 2001, we got it up to 16 teams.

In 2006, we dropped the Bakersfield league down to 12 teams. And in 2007 we dropped Big Bear down to 12 teams and created Big Bear II, another 12 team league.

In 2010, GLFL Dynasty was born, giving owners more to do during the off season.

Below I have standings and other info for as far back as I can find.  Enjoy!
